The Angel Run Half Marathon was held on April 11, 2015. Organized by Andrea Terna and Maria Esquivel, this event is a tribute Kelsey Knepprath, whose friendship touched the hearts of her Montgomery ISD colleagues, and Kelsey’s younger sister, Sara Hartnett. The story of Kelsey and Andrea’s friendship is best told in Andrea’s own words, and you can find that story here. This year’s event took place in the planned community of Woodforest, just prior to the “Bourne to Be Wild” event, celebrating the opening of the Deerbourne Ridge neighborhood. I want to provide a special note of thanks to Gracepoint Homes, who was the race photo sponsor for this event. Proceeds from the event support scholarships to Montgomery ISD students. If you would like to contribute, you can contact the race here.
The Pre-Race Events
Prior to the race, the runners and volunteers were treated to a special performance by the Lone Star Elementary Singing Stars.
The Angel Run Starts
The race started out with lots of anticipation and a lot of energy.
Runners of all ages came out.
The race included kids of all ages. Sometimes a little teamwork was needed!
Racers celebrated their run.
The energy remained high for these runners, even as they approached the finish of their races.
A fun, family event.
It was truly wonderful to see so many families involved in the event together, participating in the race and in the fun events after the race.
Angel Run: a wonderful tribute to lost sisters
What started from mourning the loss of their friend has grown into a fun family event, and a wonderful tribute to these two sisters. Well done, Andrea and Maria.
