I spent an evening with the W Family a few weeks ago. I last took their family photos in April of 2014. I am not a particularly bubbly type, but I do display a fair amount of nerdy excitement when I have clients come back to me. That is especially true for this family. My oldest chose this boy as his friend way back in kindergarten, and did he ever choose wisely. Photographing this family and watching how they interact is such a treat. Kudos, mom and dad. If family were a competition, yours would be way out in front.
The Littlest Always Steals The Show
I’m going to start by sharing this photo, one of my all time favorites, from their session in 2014:
Two years ago, this guy was most definitely a moving target. I remember hopping up on a bench to catch him running by me – thank goodness for focus tracking on that camera! He still retains that energy, but with a slightly more subdued camera presence. I did wear running shoes this time just in case…
Parents Are Part Of The Family, Too
After the group family photo, the photo of mom and dad is my second favorite image to get from a family session. Of course I love taking the individual photos of the kids, but getting at least one image of mom and dad alone is a favorite because parents rarely ask for this. PSA: Please, moms and dads, take one together. I won’t make you kiss for the camera. I will ask, but I won’t insist.:)
Then and Now
I need to share a couple of “now and then” moments: this boy who introduced me to his awesome family via my oldest back in their kinder days, and his sister, who looks less and less like the little girl who rocked those pink cowboy boots two years ago and more and more grown up.
And, Finally: My Favorite
I’ll close this out with my favorite image from the session. This pair, this bond – love everything about this image.
